WHAT IS NEW
ON THE TLA PAGES
December 31, 2019
TLA closed
its doors to the public. Business
closing down.
December 10, 2019
Lenz LH101controller
below no longer available.
December 8, 2019
I have
one Lenz LH101 controller now available, which I brought in under the October
upgrade/exchange round for an owner who has since backed out.
Anyone
who may have missed the October 31 deadline who may still want one of these new
Generation III units should contact me as soon as possible.
November 29, 2019
All replacement
units under the last LH101/LZV200 upgrade/exchange round have now been shipped
to owners.
LH101controllers
are now at firmware version 2.0. Owners who have upgraded previously may wish
to go to the Lenz Helps page for the step-by-step guide to upgrading the firmware
on their respective controllers themselves.
I will be
happy to provide the necessary upgrade cable to those who got their controllers
from TLA for a nominal charge of $16.95 to offset the cost of the padded
envelope, Canada Post shipping charges and having brought these in from Germany.
November 4, 2019
The last
LH101/LZV200 upgrade/exchange round closed on October 30.
I have
placed the order for all the upgrade units ordered with Lenz Germany and still
hope to be able to ship the replacement units to owners no later than mid
November.
The Lenz
factory was, I understand, closed for holidays last week and was still closed
when I called this morning to seek confirmation of receipt of the current TLA
order.
October 4, 2019
I still have many books, etc. Remaining in my railway-oriented library.
Please take
a look by clicking the link on the TLA home page.
Feel free
to contact me for further details and/or photos or any of the items or to make
a reasonable offer.
July 23, 2019
I
am happy to advise that TLA is able to offer another (and probably the last) LZV200
and LH101 Exchange/Upgrade round. The closing date for receipt of LZV100, LZ100,
LH90 and LH100 units and payment for new LZV and LH units is OCTOBER 30. Please see the Lenz Upgrade page for costs and details.
June 20, 2019
The
shipment of LZV200 and LH101 Exchange/Upgrade units (for owners of LZV100, LZ100,
LH90 and LH100 units who participated in the June 10 round) is now en route to
TLA. I expect to be able to ship
owners their new units in the next week
I
am not sure, at this time, whether TLA will facilitate another upgrade/exchange
round.
Lenz
has announced that it will produce an LH101 cordless controller unit. This will work using radio transmission, I
understand. A base station, an LTM101 will provide
the interface to the Xpressnet. One LTM101 will serve up to four LH101R controllers.
No
time frame for introduction and production of these units was announced by Lenz
Germany.
April 30, 2019
Lenz
Germany has today announced the full production and availability of its
long-awaited LZV200 Command and Power unit.
It
has also announced that it is offering an Exchange/Upgrade programme for owners
of of LZV100 and LZ100 units, similar to the
continuing programme for LH101 units.
TLA
will facilitate this programme for owners for one round, which I will close on
June 10, 2019. Please see the Lenz Upgrade Page for information and costs.
April 11, 2019
I
have had confirmation from Lenz Germany that the LH100/LH90 to LH101 trade in/upgrade
programme they offered in in 2018 remains open, pending
further notice. If
I receive enough orders between now and June 15, 2019, I will carry out another
exchange round.
The
cost for the exchange/upgrade would be $149.50 plus return shipping. (Plus HST if applicable.)
Please
contact me to make arrangements before sending any units for exchange.
Please
note that units offered for exchange must be at V.3.6 and be in good condition.
February 18, 2019
These is
now a section on the Lenz
Helps page describing how to set up the LI-USB/LAN (p/n 23151) computer & LAN interface with an IP address
and also to make it work with WiFi. The work was all done by Brian Williams of
Belleville, Ontario and the process is described by him.
The Lenz Pricing and Availability
page has also been updated.
December
21, 2018
I have
put up a new listing of what is left in my personal railroad library. You can click here to go directly to that page.
The
prices are what I paid for the items.
I would
like to see as much of the library go to people who will appreciate them, so
feel free to contact me if you have any interest in any of them.

A first learning
experience with the new LH101: The
LH101 will work properly only with LZV100s at V.3.6.
November
12, 2018
Lenz
Germany has authorized TLA to offer the LH100/LH90 to LH101 upgrade/exchange
program once again before Christmas.
The cost
will be $125.00 per LH unit, plus return shipping, plus HST. Return shipping for one unit will be
$25.00 and $7.50 additional for each additional unit sent in the same package.
Trade-ins
must be an LH100 or LH90 currently at V.3.6 and in good working order.
The trade-in
LH unit(s) must be received here no later than November 30. I will finalize the order with Lenz on
December 1. I would expect receive
delivery of the parcel here no later than Friday, December 14. I will ship the new LH101(s) to owners
the next business day.
Owners may
expect, therefore to be without a controller for 2-3 weeks.
Please contact
me before sending in any units for upgrade and I will forward an invoice.
November
8, 2018
TLA now has
LH101 controllers, as well as other Lenz items that were on order in stock. See the Lenz Pricing
and Availability page.
Thanks to
Andy Chisholm, there is also a section in the Lenz Helps
page giving the step-by–step the process to change the display language
on the LH101 from German to English (or French).
I hoping
to be able to retire at the New Year so anyone interested in assuming the Lenz
Distributorship and Support and/or the Model Soldier aspects of TLA should
contact me.
October
20, 2018

Lenz Germany

May
23, 2018
The Lenz Pricing and Availability page has been updated to
reflect today's arrivals.
April
25, 2018
We have been
advised by Lenz Germany that they expect to have their long announced LH101
rotary knob+pushbutton controller and LZV200 Integrated
Command and Power unit in production before the end of 2018.
Notwithstanding
previous announcements, both these items will, I am told, be released with the current
V.3.6 firmware. Owners of current systems that are currently at V.3.6 need not,
thus, fear planned obsolescence for their equipment.
Once these
do, in fact, become available, we will provide a notice here and include them
on the Lenz Pricing and Availability page.

one of Canada's most reputable and best stocked full service hobby shops, has begun
to carry Lenz Dgital Plus products. The manager there,
Steve, has owned a Lenz system for years and is knowledgeable about the product
and what it is capable of doing. Another reason - as if any
model railroaders need a reason - to visit that shop.

that, as our dollars have been at or near parity for the last couple of years,
all the prices on this website are now denominated in U.S. dollars. With

new shop still under construction added to the TLA home page.
September 12,
2013
As is usual
with construction projects, TLA's new shop is about four weeks behind schedule.
We are
trying to maintain an acceptable level of service with very limited shelf and
working space. I apologize for the inconvenience to all of our customers and
clients. Right now we are waiting on new doors and windows for the shop,
scheduled to arrive sometime in early October. I hope they get here before
first frost.
We also have
a new credit card processor, so are able to accept payment by that means for
billings in $Cdn, though we must charge a 5% premium to defray the service
charges.
Finally, we
are now handling all of the system upgrade and warranty repair work for the
Lenz Agency of North America, for both Canadian and U.S.A. owners. Again, I
apologize in advance for any delays due to our shop construction situation.

Lenz page updated pending next resupply.
On the Shelf RTR page updated with a few
reduced prices. Some reduced prices for the Christmas/New Year's season also
put on the CPR On the Shelf page and on the CNR On the Shelf page.
Perhaps a
few other reduced prices spread elsewhere on the site. I can't remember
specifics at the moment.
Anyone calling
on or before January 2 may get a discounted price on shelf items - or anything
else - , if the spirit moves and if I like your voice.

June 2,
2009
I am
happy to advise that TLA is able to return to most of its past commercial
activity, with the exception of most custom modelling projects.
To try
to make up for the interruption of service, I will offer a 20% reduction on the
list price of all in-store stock, with the exception of Lenz items and TLA's
own brass, until July 15. (For previous customers and friends of TLA, 25% for
cash, in-shop pick up.)
April
26, 2009
I am
hopeful that TLA may be in a position to recommence most previous activities,
but regret I am just not able to offer any further word on that in the near
term.
Given
the possibility that may not prove feasible, in the interim, I would be happy
to extend to past customers a 20% discount on all in-stock items, with the
exception of Lenz DCC and most of TLA's own Brass stock.
A few
of the Baines' brass items remain and I have a good stock of items, including Atlas
code 83 and Code 100 NS track, that are not listed on the website.
So if
you are seeking something not listed, please feel free to call or email and
ask.
I may
also have some items that were set aside for the SBLK II, which may not now be
used.
March
16, 2009
I regret
to advise that, due to an unforeseen change in personal circumstances, TLA must
suspend indefinitely all of its commercial activities, with the exception of
Lenz support and certain Lenz sales, with immediate effect.
We may
be in a position to offer the entire stock of the business at significant
discount within a few months, as well as some personal collection items.
A notice
to that effect with further information will appear here if that possibility
eventuates.
I would
like to thank all of our customers, clients and suppliers for their very much
valued support and custom in our 18 years of business.
John Licharson
