My Railroad
and
Model Train-related
LIBRARY FOR SALE
Finally, I have been able to begin listing, with photos, the Railroad and Model Railroad related books in my Library for sale.
The full list of titles is available at the Book List page, along with each book's original purchase price.
I would be very pleased to sell the whole collection as one lot and certainly would be willing to entertain an offer for that.
In the Listing that follows, where I can, I indicate the current range of prices for each that appear for each book in the ABEbooks and/or Alibris internet sites, as well as the condtion of the book. There should be sufficient photos with each to give prospective buyers a good idea of what they would be buying.
Re prices: I am willing to entertain reasonable offers, bearing in mind what else may be available from other sources.

6. Beyer-Garratt Articulated Locomotives
Beyer-Peacock & Company, 1947
This book was published in the U.K. by FanFare Press in 1947.
It appears to be a complete photographic record, from original builder's photos, of each of the Beyer-Garratt and like locomotives produced by the Beyer-Peacock Locomotive Company in the U.K. Anyone interested in locomotives from anywhere in the British Empire/Commonwealth/Colonies will know what a treasure trove this is.
For any others, this collection of photos and information is unique and comprehensive.
The photos are all excellent resolution taken at the B-P works after construction and are superlative references for railway enthusiasts, historians or modellers.
My cost on this was US$335.00 + shipping from England. It does not appear currently to be listed on Abebooks, although a soft cover "digital" copy seems to be listed.
This original, hard cover edition in very good condition is a true collector's item, rare and difficult to find.
I am asking $250.00.

7. Steam on the Veldt - Steam in South Africa During The 60's
Steam in South Africa During The 60's
By A.E. Durant A.A. Jorgensen & C.P. Lewis
This book was published in the U.K. by Ian Allan Press in 1972.
It is, as the dust cover blurb says, a vivid pictorial survey of steam locomotives on the S.A.R. Lots of photos, virtually all in very good resolution. A brief history of each class, with builders and built dates. Anyone interested in South African Railways and its locomotives or just locomotives from anywhere in the British Empire/Commonwealth/Colonies will appreciate this book, as will railway enthusiasts, historians or modellers.
Please do look at the representative photos and judge for yourself.
My cost on this was US$50.00 + shipping from England. It is not currently listed on Abebooks, out of print like many of the major reference works put out by Ian Allan. This original, hard cover edition in very good condition is a true collector's item, rare and difficult to find.
I am asking $25.00.

8. Van Horne's Road
By Omer Lavallée
This is the original, first edition published in Canada by Railfare in 1974.
Lots of photos, virtually all in very good resolution. For anyone interested in the history of or modelling the Canadian Pacific Railway.
My cost on this was Cdn $49.00.
There are many listed on Abebooks ranging in price from $15.00 to over $150.00, depending on condition and the quirks of the seller. Still, a collector's item if clean and fresh like this one: not shop or shelf worn nor leafed through more than once or twice.
I am asking $22.50.
